Does anyone else get the irrational desire to jump from high places?
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 01:31 AM by Heaven and Earth
Sometimes when I look down from very high places, I get the split second irrational desire to jump. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Do I have a subconscious desire for suicide or something? Maybe I am just curious to experience it.

2. When I'm forced to watch Pauly Shore films. yes...
Seriously, I've had that when I am in a High-Rise on one of the upper-floors; very unnerving..

3. Not at all
You describe the stuff of my nightmares...I actually slipped and fell off a cliff once (I have an eyewitness, it was about a thirty foot freefall)...fortunately I fell between two boulders into a pool of water and didn't get hurt...

I've always had recurring dreams about clinging to the edge of a huge skyscraper and looking down with the wind buffeting me...

911 did not help at all...

5. Yup.
I'm extremely acrophobic, and the urge to jump is overwhelming. Not to commit suicide, but to end the terror. Hard to explain to someone who's not acrophobic.

6. Yes
I do sometimes, for unexplainable reasons. I have always wanted to do the thing where you strap on the wing-like things and jump from tall places, but never have had any urge to to the plane jumping bit or bungee jumping. I think the thing I want to do is called hang gliding. As a matter of fact, I'd probably shit myself if I did either of those other two things. Aside from that, I almost have jumped a few times and cannot explain why. It seems like it would be fun to free fall at least until I landed.

7. I used to read a zine called Cometbus..
And the guy (Aaron Cometbus) had the same feeling when he would visit Portland. Portland is a town of bridges. And Aaron was the drummer for Crimpshrine. And they rule..

I have that zine in one of these boxes. Maybe I should hunt it down and scan it.
