Elliot Smith
Who loves him?
Absolutely heartbreaking voice and tragic life. I heard people who went to his concerts, when he was alive, obviously, who said he would barely function on stage. The man was a mess.
But oh, what a voice...

1. I'm a huge fan
listen to him all the time. I'm not sure it contributes to my mental health, really, though.

My favorite album of his, and one of my favorite albums in general, is XO.

2. Man, we ARE soul mates
We just keep having more and more in common! :hi:
But yes, Elliot is most certainly one of my downer musicians...but in these times, I unfortunately identify with him.

4. Well, you know what they say....
great minds think alike ;-)

And sadly, I hear you. I think most of the music I listen to has a bit of a depressing edge to it, though I think Elliot takes the cake in that department. It's kind of amazing that people close to him didn't watch out for him more considering that his music was really almost a musical suicide note.

5. no kidding
"Bye" on Figure 8 is a piano piece, but it SOUNDS like DEATH.
If he was my friend...I'd be always watching him.

3. He somehow reminds me of Nick Drake...
Poignantly sensitive but in a sense depressing...I saw him when he was with Heatmiser and he was different then...

I won't say I loved him when he was treading this mortal coil but in the future I'm sure I will seek out his music...
