Under the knife in 10 days...
O.K., it's only a vasectomy, but does anybody have any experiences/advice to relate?

1. Afterwards, it is best
to get up and exercise soon.

Just kidding.

Peas. Frozen peas. Buy many bags. Lay low.

2. Thanks. I've heard about the value of frozen peas.
I leave them IN the bag, right?

5. Well, standard disclaimer contained within
I'm not exactly a candidate for a vas. Dh, however, was. I babied him plenty - hopefully you'll have someone around to help you.

And yeah, frozen peas in the bag. Unless your caregiver is extremely sadistic, and hands them to you one at a time.

8. My ex is babysitting me...
I can drive myself to and from, but only if I forgo the Versaid. I really don't mind, but she offered and Versaid is kind of fun anyway.

I'm really not concerned...I just wanted some input.

Thanks :)

4. A vasectomy is (relatively speaking) minor.
In and out, as it were....

Wait until you're waiting to have your first total knee replacement. THEN you can start sweating it.

7. Yes. I've had one. Its an in office procedure that takes 5 minutes...
...and its a breeze. Nothing to it. I don't even remember being that sore afterwards, but then again I may not be able to remember much because my wife and I went out and had some margaritas to celebrate, so I was feeling no pain!!!

I know to keep things iced and to take it easy for a few days...should be fine.

11. good for you...
congrats. I've known plenty of guys who've had it done, and none had any major problems. A few aspirin, a little ice, and the boys will be fine.

12. I'm 37 and my son is 14.
I retire in 11 years. That gets my son through college and three years of grad school. A baby at this point would REALLY screw up my retirement plans.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I've been considering this for about 2 years and finally decided to get it done.

13. MrG had it and was "back in action" the next night...albeit tenderly.
:hi: good luck! He says it's a piece of cake aside from the weirdness of being all splayed out. He'd never make it as a woman. :hi:

14. I think you're right...most men are uncomfortable with that position.
I think I can handle it :)

A funny story:

I had a friend who went for a vasectomy 2 weeks after his last daughter was born. His wife took him to the appointment, obviously with the baby.

The nurse who went into the room to prep him said "I met your wife in the waiting room. I see you have a wee little one." My friend grinned and said "Gee, thanks." The nurse turned red and left the room.

When the doctor came in, he wanted to know what my friend had said to the nurse because she refused to came back in...
