Job hunting....

After sending out resumes, how long does it usually take for an employer to respond? At what point should I become discouraged?

1. It varies a lot

I have an interview this Wednesday for a job I sent my resume in for in January (had the phone interview 2 weeks ago, this is the face to face one.) On the other hand, I've had some responses within a week.

In one case, I had a phone interview 1 month after I sent the resume in (and in this case, I had a friend who worked at the place and he handed my resume to the hiring manager). I had the first face interview a month after the phone interview; the 2nd face to face a month after the first one and the 3rd face to face a month after that. After dragging the process out like this, they went with the internal hire.

Hang in there, it gets very frustrating.
