Rove is EMPHATIC: "the idea that Bush is not an intellectual is incorrect"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7551282/

Rove countered the general notion among conservatives that mainstream media outlets skew liberal. He said the media is “less liberal than it is oppositional” and admitted to being a listener of National Public Radio.

Of his boss, Rove said the idea that Bush is not an intellectual is incorrect, citing his Ivy League education and saying “there’s always a book on his night stand.”

“He’s one of the most intelligent, curious, intellectually tough people I know, yet the country misunderestimates him continually,” Rove said, playing on one of Bush’s more memorable verbal gaffes.

1. Hey, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" is a classic
And far more complicated a text than what MOST Americans read.

is not necessarily a book that will be read.

It's only when your nightstand falls over due to the amount of reading material placed on it that you're a contender ...

is incorrect. KKKarl, get a clue: Your boss and butt-buddy is as dumb as a box of hammers, and the book on his nightstand is either "Goodnight Moon" or a photo album of Gannon/Guckert porn.

And that book is a self-help title: "GEORGE, DON'T FUCKING SAY/DO THE FOLLOWING THINGS IN PUBLIC." Author: Karl Rove.

11. the man is delusional
Bush was a below average ivy league student...who was probably only passed cause of his Grandfather. Did you hear his explanation of why we need to fix social security.
He may have a book on his bedstand but that doesn't mean he reads it.

15. Sorry, Karl
Attending an Ivy League school via Legacy Affirmative Action does not make Bush an intellectual.

Having "a book on his night stand" does not make Bush an intellectual.

An intellectual is someone who has the ability to assimilate knowledge, think critically and abstractly, and communicate effectively.

By any objective measure, Bush is an idiot.

18. So the Ivy League education he got because of his connections
makes him an intellectual? The University of Texas Law School rejected his application for admission in 1970 - why? After all, he's an intellectual. The fact that his pappy and grandpappy didn't go there wouldn't have affected the decision, would it?

As for the book on his nightstand, I'll paraphrase a line from A Fish Called Wanda: "Apes read Nietzsche; they just don't understand it."

19. No, Karl. Bush was ONCE intelligent...
... until the drugs. Karl, please, stop projecting your homoerotic fantasies on the rest of us. I know you'd prefer him to be your Adonnis, your Einstein, and your George Washington, but the man is none of that.

Hardly.

Writer.

That and a sheaf of phonetically primed talking points prepared by KKKarl himself.

Karl Rove, btw, looks like a fat, alcoholic worm of some sort. :puke:

24. An Ivy League education does not an intellectual make.
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 03:51 AM by Spider Jerusalem
Especially not when the only reason you received an Ivy League education in the first place was thanks to money and family connections.

Nor does "a book always on his nightstand" make him an intellectual; Tom Clancy isn't exactly Michel Foucault, after all. I'd wager that whatever he reads, IF he reads, is probably the sort of relatively simple-minded mass-market garbage that makes the bestseller lists.

Rove makes an argument that will only sound convincing to an idiot; unfortunately, there are a tremendous number of those in this country.
