Who here has eaten Jell-O with Salad Dressing?
Along with hotdishes made with Cream of Mushroom Soup, a staple of the late twentieth Century Midwesterner diet.

1. Used to get it at the school cafeteria, usually green jello with carrots
in it.

2. Shredded Carrots on the top..
and a little lettuce on the bottom..sometimes can-fruit in the jello...and sometimes the jello was orange, rather than lime or green

4. And it always had a nice big glob of salad dressing to accompany it!
I usually picked at it, if the truth be known.
Then there was the "fruit salad" consisting of lots of raisins and shredded carrots with horrible milky juice running all over the plate:puke:

3. I just love that you say "hotdish."
:)

I don't use Cream Of Mushroom soup in my hotdishes. I don't like it, and I never have. I occasionally use Cream Of Chicken, but usually I just make a white sauce from scratch and skip the cream soup altogether.

My favorite hotdish doesn't require a white sauce OR cream of anything. It's hamburger and tomato based.

6. I was raised w/ it!
Miracle Whip in the Jello Salad so that it made layers.

And, I admit it, I still use Cream of Mushroom all the time.
