Is there an infliction that prevents people from using turn-signals?
Seriously, if there is, we need to allocate research money and find a cure for idiots who refuse to use turn signals (or for that matter - turn their damn turn signals off after making a turn).

Geez, I watched some lady almost run over a car in the far left lane because she decided to make a left-turn from the middle lane. At not once was her turn signal turned on

:grr:

3. I truly believe
it is an expensive option on many cars.

4. I love it when I'm waiting to take a turn and the car coming from my left
doesn't signal, but takes a right turn. At that moment, I want to bitch slap the fucker.

5. Yes, it's called lazyness
Another example is not turning on the headlights two hours after sunset, because you don't need them in the city because of the street lights.

There is one exception to the rule of course. BMWs and limos (and Rolls Royces, but they have become rare) are exempted from using their signals, because people are going to brake from them anyhow ;)

11. I notice that when I drive a real beater
...it is curiously liberating. When you are driving a dented rustbucket with a great engine, those BMWs, Benzes and so forth get a leeeetle bit skeered of ya, and back off--especially if you have that hunched, determined look about you. You can push your way into heavy traffic, because hey, go ahead, hit me baby--it will just add to the overall patina of my rolling work of junk-art!

15. I used to drive an old pickup like that.
It was fun. Plus, the pickup had a much stronger frame and body than most cars on the road. "Go ahead, hit me!" That was exactly my attitude. It made driving a lot more fun.

6. when I lived in a midwestern city with a large state university, it seemed
to me that 80-90% of drivers failing to use turn signals were (college age) males

7. It bothers me more when someone falsely signals.
I don't see it real often, but occasionally someone makes a left turn with the right turn signal on, or vice versa.

It also irks me when a compact car has a right turn signal on, then swings widely to the left before actually making the right turn.

In both of those cases, I'd rather they didn't use their turn signal, than to falsely signal the opposite direction of where they intend their car to go.

8. If it's a disease
A minor case would be the "Idiot Flasher." This is when the driver in front of you slows to a near stop and turns their blinker on AFTER they have started turning. I always give the drivers behind me a blinker before I even slow down, this way they know to expect it.

10. Well if they're on the Washington Beltway,
and they indicate their intent to change lanes; the person they'll be pulling in front of will most likely speed up to avoid being polite to anybody. Politeness on the Beltway is a sign of weakness, and must be shunned at all costs.

The only possible way to signal a lane change and actually expect people to respect your intent, is to open the window and use the old-fashioned hand signals with an automatic pistol as a visual enhancement aid. And yes, this is :sarcasm:

14. Hahahahaha!!!!!!
Ain't THAT the truth! It was even worse before they put the mixing bowl in--the convergence of 95/395/495 was a damned war zone!!!

God forbid you should be polite and let someone in who clearly needs to change lanes so they don't end up in Baltimore when they want to go to the Justice Department!

16. Especially in rush hour....
when the road is like a parking lot, and people need to merge from a lane that's ending...

13. I don't know who is worse
The ones who don't signal, or the ones who have their signal on for miles on end.

17. In Atlanta, your chances of being able to change lanes
diminish quickly as soon as you signal your intentions.

(I'm somewhat joking. But, at times, it really appears that drivers
dive onto you as soon as you signal.)
