My secret confession.....

I really have not told anyone I know this, only my close family knows. I know you all have seen the homeless man standing on the corner panhandling, the bum in the parking lot asking for money, food, whatever. The one you wonder about...why doesn't he get a job, take a bath, shave, clean up????? Well, that man is my son. He left home at 18, and has spent the last 5 years living on the streets and sleeping in ally ways. I love my son, but I have concluded that sadly, there is nothing more I can do.( I have led him to water many, many times, but can't make him drink). When you see this man on the street, please be kind. Try to remember, he is somone's son, brother, nephew, cousin.....

my worst fear is someone finding him hurt or dead....it just really breaks my heart.

4. how often are you able to be in touch with him?

5. He call's collect about 2 times a month. He has been in and out

of jail for years (more in than out) and beleive it or not, that is when I feel I can sleep at night. At least I know where he is, and that he is warm and semi-safe.

people with feelings & fears. I hope your son can turn his life around. I am very sad for you, sometimes you have to let them go.

When I see a homeless person or a poor person I think, "There but for the grace of God goes I."

9. I honestly try to remember that every time I see your son. I make eye

contact, ask him how he's doing, and hand him what I can spare for the day.. sometimes it's a few dollars,some days it's not so much. And I tell him to have a good day.

My daughter knows too that that man, even if he is kind of scary looking, he IS someone's son, or dad... and that sometimes things just happen that we can't control.

When I see him, I remember to count my blessings too.
