She throws out peanuts and bird seed every night, now they get in our garage and dig under the foudations of our shed and house.

2. I had to stop feeding the birds early this year
Edited on Mon Apr-18-05 12:35 PM by stellanoir
Had about a dozen of them hovering about. Cute as hell but I started to hear stories of disasterous damage they cause to a homes electrical systems once they really hunker down.

The squirrel proof bird feeders don't really solve the problem either as the birds or strong winds cause the feed to scatter so the squirrels still are attracted to them.

I'd say very, very cute, but threatening menaces as well.

on edit- and menacing threats also

3. They never poop!
Squirrels are everywhere. Why aren't we buried under mounds of their excrement?

11. They sit on the tree branch next to my window and screech
at my cat who sits at the window meowing back at them. They're fucking cat tormentors.

22. I thought it was the other way around
My cats would be in the backyard, doin' their backyard thing, and the squirrel would sit on the fence and bark at them. And the cats did nothing, just ignored it. So the squirrel would move a bit and start barking again. I just thought the cats were tormenting the squirrel, because it couldn't get down to the bench to get the peanuts.

14. I really miss squirrels
We don't have them here in the desert. Hell, we don't even have birds except pigeons and mourning doves. And god how I hate the mourning doves, I LOATHE them really -- I wish that I wasn't allergic to cats!

18. Nope. This is as close as we get to cute and cuddly:

The rabbits this year are ENORMOUS though, I guess something to do with all of the unseasonal rain.

I did see one of these last month, though, during a camping trip a couple hundred miles north in the Great Basin (and a hellish, freak snowstorm!)

pick them off the plants before they're ripe and EAT them and leave half of them there on the lawn.

Let your cat out. :7

21. I feed 20-25 daily in a local park.
Some sit on the picnic table beside me. One climbs my leg for her treats. Several hop into my lap for theirs. It all depends upon where you befriend them. My frontyard squirrels are a bit more aloof. For that, I'm grateful.
