MrScorpio's Super Bomb Group of the Day: THE THIEVERY CORPORATION

>>Having just released their fourth long player, The Cosmic Game, Rob and Eric made DJ appearances in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York. The shows were all sold out in advance and those that made it got to hear a classically-eclectic Thievery set. Thievery Corporation would like to thank Will Linn at Blasthaus and Sam Kirby at William Morris for 3 great nights.

Rob and Eric would also like to thank KCRW for hosting Thievery Corporation on the day of the release of the new LP. Nic Harcourt, and program manager Ariana Morgenstern are true champions of independent music and innovative broadcasting, it is an honor and pleasure to work with them.

US and European live tour plans are being finalized and it looks like the North American leg will begin in early May on the West Coast and finish up in late May on the East Coast. After this quick North American tour, Thievery will co-headline a three-date, multi-city festival in Zagreb, Croatia; Belgrade, Serbia; and Skopje, Macedonia with Faithless. Over 100,000 people are expected to attend the event.

The Cosmic Game has debuted at #2 on iTunes and #7 on Amazon.com. This is incredible success for an independent artist with little to no commercial radio play and no big corporate money and marketing behind them.

The album has stormed to success in the UK debuting at #74 in the UK’s national charts as well as #8 on the indie charts and #2 on the dance charts. We’d like to thank Giles Peterson, Bobby Friction and Nihal, Rob Da Bank @ Blue Room, all of the BBC, for their continued support. The Cosmic Game was the BBC’s #1 recommended album for the week of 1/20/05 and have cooed over the album saying, “a grandeur and stylistic prowess that remains peerless.” <<
