Outlook Express 6 Question:
Basically what the situation is, is that I am receiving two of every email that is received to my inbox. Does anyone know how to remedy this situation?

THANKS in advance!

1. Never heard of that before
Did you check everything in the options menu?

4. I have...
unfortunately there are about 100 options I have no clue how to use. Is it possible to synchronize the same email account into outlook, therefore receive duplicate email?

2. Go to Tools -> Accounts
Then click on the 'Mail' tab. Do you have the pop account set up twice here? If so, remove one. Highlight the remaining one, and click on its Properties. Click on the "Advanced' tab and be sure that "Leave a copy of the messages on the server" is UNchecked.

If that's not it... I dunno.

3. It's probably not deleting...
mail from the server the first time around. Or, there might be some filtering issues.

Dunno if you can change settings to deal with this, or it's just a bug.

My, probably unappreciated, suggestion, is to use something else. After trying about a dozen email clients, I stayed with Eudora because it does the job as well as any of the others and has a couple of nice touches like telling you if an email tries to set a cookie-- which many do. It also identifies many spoof urls in scam and phish mail. By setting it to not run HTML, it's saved me from scads of virii and other malware not caught otherwise.

5. What pisses me off about Outlook Express is
I'll put someone on block because all they do is send forwarded e-mails and the damn thing will still download their e-mails into my delete folder. Real pain in the ass when they send 7 or 8 e-mails at once and I'm on a slow dial up connection. Sometimes it'll take an hour to download their stupid crap, slowing my computer speed something horrible. Is there away to remedy this?

6. Yes
Don't use Outlook Express myself any more. Moved over to Thunderbird (I'd suggest that)

But running Outlook Express now I noticed that in the message filters section; there is a choice that says "do not download from server" That's the choice you want to make. Also I suggest you select "delete from server" as well just to make sure it's gotten rid off.

8. Earth...I just had the same problem last week...
logged into my email and every message that was unread was duplicated. Took some time to go and delete each one by hand in each of my folders.

It only happened that one time so I didn't follow up on it after that. Thought it might have been a glitch with my ISP. You use Verizon DSL? Don't know how long it's been happening for you but give it a day and see if it clears up. Weird.

9. That's the ONLY problem you're having???
I'm going to ditch the motherfucker the moment I have the time to sit and fiddle with it.

I've been using Outlook Express for YEARS - and this latest version is driving me insane. It double deletes - as in - I try to delete one post and it deletes two. I click on a message to read it and it pops up a foward - EVERY FUCKING TIME!!!! There's more, but I get hostile even thinking about it.

I've grown to hate it, and, rather than try and fix it, I'm getting rid of it. A shame, too, since I've used it, and IE, for many, many years and I have some kind of perverted loyalty to it. But, it's time to move on to something more STABLE.

10. Stop using Outlook Express...
That's the first solution. It's got major security issues. Get Thunderbird. Eudora is good too, but it's only for Mac as far as I know - haven't heard of a PC user with it. Could be wrong.

Possible solution to your problem:
Is there a way that your email address could be forwarding to itself? I've never seen that happen, but you never know. You should also check with your ISP - or whatever mail service you have.
