Whats your favorite car company or specific make and model of car?
For me it's BMW. I love all BMW's except the SUV. We have a 525i and I just love it.

What do you just love? What is your dream car?

1. I am a Mustang gal
I have loved Mustangs since childhood. I have one now, but I suppose if I won the lotto or something I'd get a classic restored one. 64 1/2 or 71 maybe.

11. I love it, but I miss the hood scoop
I am not sure if any of the new ones have the hood scoop.

Now I have an '02, with pretty low miles. About 3 years I might trade it in on a newer one.

I like getting cars barely used. Also, by then I will be able to get one a lot cheaper. I don't put many miles on mine, so I should be able to sell private party for a good price.

22. What's great about the Mustang and Camaro
is that they are as much fun to work on/modify/tune as they are to drive. I had an 88 Mustang GT ... one of the best engineered cars I've ever taken apart. Alas ... it was totalled by a moving truck while stationary in rush hour traffic. An ingnoble and ironic end for so fleet a vehicle.

45. Maybe it was 85-86.
I think the GT enthusiasts got ticked, so they changed it...lol.

I did have a 78 Mustang Ghia and it was an absolute turd. That thing broke down all the time, the passenger door would fly open when I made left turns, and I had to keep my foot on the gas a bit at stoplights or it would stall out. Today, I still drive with two feet because of that.

I like my GT now though. They seem more reliable since the mid 90's.

25. Ouch!
And you're right about those Mustangs. The old 5.0's were a breeze to modify, and they had better power off the line from a lower torque peak, to boot. The 4.6 has more horsepower out of the box, but I think the 5.0 is easier to tune even now.

I love imports, modified or otherwise, but every import tuner owes it to themselves to pick one of these up for the few thousand they selling for, play with the powertrain a while and have some cheap, straight line acceleration fun. Also - Can you say "drift"? :)

34. Amen, bro
Though I'm such an old fart we called it "pushing" back in my day ... let that ass swing a bit and punch it through the curve, alloowing the rear wheel drive push the car through the apex. That is such a rush ... I can't get that feeling with front wheel drive, but it has other virtues.

Mine was a black amd silver T-Top ... a fantastic ride on a spring day in Atlanta.

One of the 5.7 liter ones from the later 90's. Those cars were are raw but amazingly capable, and a perfect successor to your ride. I'm also partial to the new GTO. They are selling for a song now due to low volume - late last year they were going for 8K off sticker. Not bad for 400 horsepower. Ahem.

37. We do think along similar lines
Been looking at 4th Gen F Body cars ... they made a lot of technology improvements around then, especially in the steering and suspension. I have had the 91 for so long ... it is an old friend, and under a continuous program of restoration. But I want to retire it as a daily driver and treat it like the classic it is about to be ...

Thanks for the suggestion, the conversation, and all those other posts of yours I have read before. Good to finally, meet ya properly, Tom. G'nite

36. They are really quite reasonable now, true!
The earliest, base model ones from 91 are very cheap to buy and maintain. Kelly's got them listed at 2K-3K in excellent condition. Since they use the 323's engine, they are a snap to fix. It's win-win.

27. Exactly!
I love my Zoom-Zoom. She's very nearly stock, except for:

- Ultra-loud horn, to keep those SUVs from running over me when they change lanes w/out looking
- Headrest speakers
- Replaced the old top with a new one and frame from an '02 (really wanted a glass window)

Did all the work myself, too. She's a sweet ride, and perfection on the curvy mountain roads near where I live.

I didn't know you could do that.. the Miata is one of my favorite cars, and I don't care for convertibles usually. That shifter is gold.

I have a weakness for Mazda cars in general, especially the RX-7. My favorite was the first generation model..

33. Me, I love driving top-down and driving way too fast. ;)
And yes -- any year's convertible top & frame will fit any other model year. I found a guy in Indiana who was converting his to a racer, so the new top, frame, and rain-rail (the seal around the base) were all absolutely pristine. Which was just as well, because the original zip-down plastic window in my old one was beginning to get a bit wavy.

The swap only took me a single afternoon and one barked knuckle (some of the bolts were really tight).

The RX-7's a sweet ride, too. If I hadn't had my heart set on the MX-5, that would've been my 2nd choice.

6. I've Had More Chrysler Products Than Anything Else
I've had a '66 Plymouth VIP, a '70 Barracuda, a '73 Dart Swinger, two '81 Horizons, an '84 Reliant, a '79 Chrysler LeBaron, and the '93 Plymouth Sundance we bought new and The Princess still drives. I've found Mopars to be very reliable.

If I could buy a brand-new car tomorrow, I'd like a Dodge Magnum with the Hemi V8, or a PT Cruiser convertible with the turbo.

A high school friend had one and later got his mom's 1981 Aries mail car. He drove it to death. I had a 1985 Aries with the Mitsubishi engine and that little four-banger would get the car up to 90 on the highway.

42. Here are a few specifics
The engine was upgraded from a 3.5 liter six cylinder to nearly 3.7 liters. Zero to 60 in 8.5 seconds, top speed 137 mph. Not bad for a car with such good looks to boot. I don't imagine it could outhandle a Renault Alpine Gordini (another dream car of mine) in mountain roads, but then very few cars of that period could.
