13. Fedora or Aurora
Depending on arch. Aurora is for Sun.

Fedora rocks!

2. I've gotta go with the lizard
You gotta love the lizard

Anyway, I'm really not pleased with the degree of community exclusion in the Fedora development process though I really applaud them bringing all these new technologies to linuxland.

...and Mandrake + Connectiva = Mandriva, oh come on really! That sounds like a seedy leather bar. :-)

3. I run Suse, but I don't know for how much longer...
...I have a feeling Novell is going to drop a very expensive bomb on us here soon.

4. SuSE Linux 9.3 Pro, out Monday,
retail is expected to be $85-$100 or $100 from Novell direct.

Yeah, it looks like it will creep up - albeit slowly.

WHile Fedora is free, SuSE has better integration and convenience AND beats the snot performancewise out of every other distro AND Windows as well, bit for bit. (eg 32bit and 64bit)

5. I think I'm going to give Fedora Core 4 a try when it comes out...
...(I think they're at test release 2 now) If it's anything close to Suse 9.2, I'll switch.

6. debian-based distros
Ubuntu, kanotix, and my personal favorite, Libranet (2.81 is still free, and 3.0 should be along any time now).

7. Fedora and SUSE are both great distros, but I gotta go with Debian.
And for some reason, the last Mandrake version I tried would always crash when it was booting up, apparently during the hardware search part. No other distro hangs on this part, and I don't really have any unusual hardware installed, so I gave up on them.

Is there a newer Fedora release than Core 3?

14. fedora 4 is on the way.
I think they're on the second public beta right now. But I'd stick with debian, or debian-based distros.

9. Tried Mandrake once...
I couldn't even install it - it locked up my system when scanning for a mouse, so I said "Fuck this!"

New computer now, so I may try again, but probably not Mandrake. Of course, with the need for decent design software (Adobe stuff and Macromedia stuff, to a lesser extent) it's kinda silly for me to go Linux at this juncture.

10. Mandrake
is a easy install on PowerPC. Debian was a bitch. Old World machine.

Fedora and Mandrake were simple on this shitty laptop. My mom uses Mandrake on her new computer. I told her it was Windows XP. She was happy to upgrade. The Internet and email got new names. She likes it. I hope she never calls Microsoft for tech support.

sooooooooo much, that I can't bring myself to try Fedora.

Worst. Distro. Ever.

I like both Mandrake and Suse.
