I just thought of this great protest song from the 60's
I forgot exactly who or where I was reminded of this song but I just can't get it out my head.. this song is still very relevant today. I can remember being allowed to stay up and watch Peter, Paul, and Mary and PBS... I can vividly remember seeing much of the audience with tears in there eyes. It is just an incedible song written by Peter Serger.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE
Pete Seeger- Sanga Music Inc -BMI

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls have picked them everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing?
Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago?
Where have all the young girls gone?
Gone for husbands everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the husbands gone, long time passing?
Where have all the husbands gone, long time ago?
Where have all the husbands gone?
Gone for soldiers everyone
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the soldiers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards, everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone, long time passing?
Where have all the graveyards gone, long time ago?
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Gone to flowers, everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls have picked them everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

2. Pete Seeger
wrote this in 1956 after The Weavers had re-formed following their blacklisting by McCarthy. The Weavers were the backbone of the folk music revival of the early '60s. Those were the only times I felt good about the way things were going. Then, all those people who were advocating power for the unempowered found out about money and became the greed generation of the '80s and '90s.
