All I can say is that it's the coolest thing ever in the history of the world. Seriously.

1. Even cooler than The Derailers doing "Raspberry Beret"?
How about cooler than The Gourds' remake of "Gin and Juice"?

I'll have to check it out and report back to you. ;-)

3. I hear'ed ya!
But the hillbilly/cajun/country version of "Gin and Juice" made me pull over the first time I heard it because I was laughing so hard, I would have wrecked.

I'll check it out - promise. :-)

:hi:Cat! Good morning!

5. Supposedly...
After listening to The Gourd's version of G&J quite a number of times, Snoop got on the phone, hunted them down and told them that their version was the most fscked-up thing ever and he loved it.

I happen to think that it is killer.

6. I saw The Gourds last week.
The crowd was calling for them to play G&J. So they did, except they did about 1/2 the song in "macabre Halloween" style. Once again, I was doubled over laughing.

Those guys are the best. They're terrific live, if you ever get the chance to see them. :-)

7. See, this cover is not funny...
it's just AWESOME. It's awesome like the first time you heard Appetite For Destruction, not awesome like the Viking Kittens. Know what I mean?

I hate to even try to describe it, but just try to mentally hear Dave Grohl going through the vocal orgasms that Prince does in the original.

8. Well, the Gourds cover was done in seriousness.
It's just humorous because hearing "ghetto language" coming out of the mouth of a guy from deep East Texas just sounds odd. But, it's a faithful cover - word for word.

You can compare the two versions, and see Snoop's reaction at the site above. :D

4. I heard they did that.
I liked their cover of "Baker Street" -- I can't wait to hear this one.

Oh, and for the record, Hindu Love Gods (Warren Zevon and most of REM) also have a kickin' version of "Raspberry Beret" that's just about eclipsed the original in my head, and I liked the original!

Oh-oh -- think this one puts me in the 700 Club. Guess I better stay out of the rock-and-roll threads for a while!
