7. I have the worst habit of not recognizing band names...
unless I listened to them in high school...I will have to look them up...I plan on checking out every band/song mentioned in this thread!

Siouxsie is hot as shit! I saw them at a really small venue in Austin when I was maybe 17...INCREDIBLE. She is a total bad ass. I still have my concert t-shirt!

I seem to remember that you do a show of some sort... (?)

I am so uneducated/uncultured about classical, jazz, and blues... so this could be any of those and I wouldn't have a clue! shameful.

36. it's brazilian
:hi:

from allmusic.com:
Review by Rick Anderson
The Brazilian trio Bossacucanova has been taking the smooth, jazzy sound of bossa nova and muscling it up with breakbeats, turntablism, and electronica since they first hit the international dance music scene in 1999. Their third album isn't really a departure from their previous work (album title notwithstanding, the beats are pretty much the same), but it does represent a continued refinement of their approach. Bass player Márcio Menescal brings his father, the legendary producer and guitarist Roberto Menescal, on board yet again to lend his delicious licks and slinky filigrees to the proceedings, and other guests include singer Marcos Valle and Bossacucanova's labelmates Zuco 103, whose contribution on "Samba da Minha Terra" is one of the album's highlights. But the real star of the show is Brazilian-American singer Cris Delanno, whose interpretations of "Onde Anda Meu Amor" and the Antonio Carlos Jobim song "Aguas de Março" have a special, bittersweet appeal. Really, though, there isn't a weak track on this wonderful record. Very highly recommended.

12. I liked that Siouxie album
especially a track called "The Ghost in You." A lot of people didn't dig it though.

I've been on an Aimee Mann kick for a week. It's nearing a close, I'll have to move on to something else.

I read an interview in which he mentioned Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin as two of his fave artists. No doubt he reminds US of Jim -dripping with sexual tension- Morrison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yes, that's a lot of exclamation points- i mean it!)

Right now, samples from Aslyn. I must say, she's grown on me! I'd give it a B now. That's nice, since I now find Ashlee Simpson's Autobiography (C+) and Hilary Duff's self-titled (C) mediocre. I was suckered into buying them. And Sarah Hudson's Naked Truth (C+) has fallen a little out of favor. Still love "Girl On The Verge" by Sarah, though.

Here's what I heard recently -

Albums I own:

The Effection - Soundtrack to a Moment (great power pop!)

Miranda Lambert - Kerosene (one of the best modern country debuts I've heard!)

Juana Molina - Tres Cosas (should satify those that find Norah Jones too dull to relex to - though I love Norah.)

Lily Holbrook - Everthing Was Beautiful And Nothing Hurt (vocals that copy Tori a little too much, but a unique style that's quite appealing)

The Postal Service - Give Up (love it - wish I had it sooner!)

Tara Angell - Come Down (this is really haunting stuff - highly recommended!)

Albums I heard through listening parties:

Garbage - Bleed Like Me (wonderful with great hooks! I don't understand the mixed reviews. It's like some critics want Garbage to be another band.)

Lisa Marie Presley - Now What (why didn't she stick to the bluesy stuff? This is bland, and a C+. Worse than her debut, a B-.)

Mariah Carey - The Emancipation Of Mimi (it just floats by for the most part. No strong melodies like "Vision Of Love." A C grade.)

Jennifer Lopez - Rebirth (the same old, same old. D+ grade.)

American Hi-Fi - Hearts On Parade (It's like a mediocre Smash Mouth. A C+.)

40. The Sarah Hudson grade should have been a B-
Down from a B+ before. It shouldn't have the same grade as Ashlee Simpson.

I hope we can get more music lists here.
