What fictional character do you identify with the most?
(or secretly want to be?)

I identify a lot with Sarah Jessica Parker in real life (plus, when I was a little kid I looked just like her in Square Pegs), so Carrie Bradshaw is one for me.

Others would be Mary Tyler Moore on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (except not so skittish), and Sidney's roommate/friend they so awfully killed off on "Alias" (we both are black chicks who dug Duran Duran), and Janeane Garafalo in whatever she does.

I always wished I was more Murphy Brown though!

I'm not the only one who has fictional alter-egos, am I??

I'm very into films and such, and sometimes I think I'm slightly weird about it...good to know I'm not!

Ooh, and my sister always said I remind her of Daria. I miss that show.

43. I shall impersonate a man...
Come, enter into my imagination and see him!
His name... Alonso Quijana... a country squire,
no longer young... bony, hollow-faced... eyes
that burn with the fire of inner vision. Being
retired, he has much time for books. He studies
them from morn to night and often through the
night as well. And all he reads oppresses him...
fills him with indignation at man's murderous
ways toward man. And he conceives the strangest
project ever imagined... to become a knight-errant
and sally forth into the world to right all
wrongs. No longer shall he be plain Alonso Quijana...
but a dauntless knight known as -
Don Quixote de La Mancha!

Hear me now
Oh thou bleak and unbearable world,
Thou art base and debauched as can be;
And a knight with his banners all bravely unfurled
Now hurls down his gauntlet to thee!
I am I, Don Quixote,
The Lord of La Mancha, þ
My destiny calls and I go,
And the wild winds of fortune
Will carry me onward,
Oh whithersoever they blow.

Whithersoever they blow,
Onward to glory I go!

Daniel Day Lewis (for Gangs of New YOrk).

He deserved it too--I mean, and I love him and everything, but he honestly deserved it.

Dumas was a great talent. Do you like his other characters too, or is it just Edmund you identify with? I think many of his protagonists have many of the same qualities--but from thinking about it just now, Dantes is the most interesting I think.

50. The Three Musketeers
Ten Years Later, Twenty Years Later and I think Thirty Years Later. Four books in the series?

More than once I read them.

The 1934 Count movie in black and white starring Robert Donat is one I remember from long ago.

I had to google to find it.

Little boys should not be allowed to read such stories. Make romantics of them. Sigh,

Then it was on to Jules Verne. Emile Zola (Nana). So many books.
