Wedll, I figure that when the "interpretors" can't even manage to tell
the difference between singular and plural, that they aren't to be trusted.

The name of the book is Revelation. Not Revelations. It's singular. It's the singular revelation of God to John.

Fundies piss me off.

Repeat after me: there is no difference between a Christian rightwin republican fundy, a jewish fundy, a muslim fundy, or any other kind of fundy. ALL FUNDIES ARE THE SAME: NOTHING BUT EVIL FUCKS.

3. This is just bad TV, pure and simple
The X-Files made me want to suspend disbelief more than this crap.

Frankly, if I was a fundy (and I was raised Pentacostal), I'd be insulted by this whole travesty.

This thing was made to do nothing except exploit the fundy following.

4. There's a fundamental (no pun) difference...
... between hate speech and identifying hysterical religiosity for what it is.

If the closeted fundies think that's cruel and hateful, let `em believe it. Mass hysteria is not coherent thought.

5. I'm glad I missed the flame war earlier
I don't even think that this show is worth it.

7. Welcome to the new generation...
of Godsploitation programming! We're gonna get lots more of this dreck.

What I wouldn't give for a Mystery Science Theater 3000 send-up of this stuff.

13. Now that would be cool
This type of programming begs for Mystery Science Theater 3000.

10. My hubby and I went for an evening walk on the coastal trail...
Definitely much more inspiring, I'm sure, than exploitation TV. I won't watch this stuff.

11. I'm trying to look at this thing objectively
Plot wise, acting and directing is pretty poor.

They're misrepresenting just about every tenet in the Book of Revelation with histrionic gobbledygook.

Frankly, I'm disappointed by the involvement of the actors involved. But they do have to make a buck like anyone else.

Now think about this, the most advanced and richest country (or empire) ever is caught in the grips of pseudo-religious fervor. This doesn't bode well for the rest of civilization.

Of course I have to use my own religious training and shake my head at this whole exercise...

I've come tot he conclusion that the show is a just a cynical exercise to milk the fundies for their hard earned dollars.

I considered it in the genre of Unintentional Comedy and wasn't disappointed. Hell, I was rolling off the couch laughing at the plot holes, inconsistencies and wacko theology.

Unfortunately, I cannot describe the characters without insulting the cardboard industry.

The girl who got zapped by lightning had obviously committed three Cardinal Sins: she had a fake tattoo, wore navel-baring pants, and lived in Florida.

We see Bill Pullman, an "astrophysicist," in a classroom spouting off about the plagues of Egypt. Was he substituting for a missing theology professor that day? (On edit: I spent January working in Egypt. Two monster clouds of locusts came thru...but since this happens all the time, it only rated minor mentions in the media.)

That annoying, know-it-all Nutball Nun does get Bonus Irony Points. First she comes up with a map scrawled by Veggie-Girl and says something about Galileo...I'm assuming that's the same Galileo her church put under house arrest for that whole earth-is-round thing.

Then she goes into some nonsense about the mystical practices of Buddhist monks. Back in the Good Old Days, that would been enough to get her burned at the stake.

We have a winner. Your last sentence says it all. And the conservative fundies just lap it up.

16. I cannot even stand to watch the ads for that thing
let alone the thing itself. I would rather watch Big Brother or American Idol.
