2. heh
i'm looking at it as a TV miniseries starring Bill Pullman, so it should be good in that regard.

3. This is the shittiest West Wing I've ever seen.
It's been twenty five minutes and we still haven't seen the White House or the campaign trail. Who's this crazy ass nun? Is she an old friend of Jed from his catholic upbringing?

4. lol
The good thing about the early end to the WW season is I can watch the rest of the Alias season... it's just starting to get really good, too.

5. Why are all the Christians on this show Catholics?
????

Does this mean no Rapture??

And also, please give me a break, LOL, with the Terri Schiavo kid. "It's up to the courts."

But yay Bill Pullman!! So excited to see him.

8. we Catholics believe in the end of the world too
Edited on Wed Apr-13-05 08:36 PM by pres2032
we're just not as in your face about it as the other Christian denominations.

Edit: also mmost movies/shows always show catholics because we're the most recognizable with our clothes and prayers

9. That's what my sis said, but do you believe in the Rapture?
Edited on Wed Apr-13-05 08:39 PM by tjdee
I wasn't sure.

But I just found it interesting that all the Christians on this show, so far, are Catholics, and not the kind of Christians we're (LOL, maybe *I'm*?) used to seeing in "End of the World" movies.

on edit:
Just saw your edit, LOL, yeah...I see your point...that's true....

11. i do believe in a final judgement
whether or not that means that random people will disapear, i don't know.

as with catholics in movies, like i said, i think we're just the most reconizable with the black clothes for priests and the nuns' uniforms. Also, we're the only ones that still do exorcisms, so do have that going for us, in that regard.

20. Mmhmm, I think I went into this thinking
slightly different about what sort of show this would be, so I fully expected a "Rapture" event in the first episode...I'm seeing this is going to be different than I thought, and the Catholic presence tipped me off that that wouldn't be happening.

Maybe it will still? Hmm.

31. I taught CCD for many years
And Catholics are not like Baptists and other Fundamentalists: they do not believe the Book of Revelation is something that WILL happen, but something that DID happen... it was a history of the early Church history in Rome and Roman territories. Actually, the large majority of Christian denominations do not believe in The Rapture. The return of Jesus and a judgment, yes. But that's' not the same thing as the whole "Left Behind" series.

I bet it's some part of a promotional campaign Dave Thomas' people are carrying out. "Eat at Wendy's, collect the clues to the Apocalypse".

19. I heard *THE* greatest review of this
on NPR today...the guy said something like "If there is an all knowing benevolent supreme being, and if the end times are really upon us, he'll bring the world to an end tonight at exactly 8:59 PM so that no one has to be exposed to this ghastly piece of crap..."

:D

35. this seems like pure pandering
to the thumpers.

too bad they couldn't have ran this a few weeks ago, they may have been able to turn the schiavo tragedy into a full fledged circus....

never mind, they did anyhow. :eyes:

the braindead/pvs, the doctors being portrayed in the worst possible way...

pure pandering.

hopefully the plot will get so bizarre that even the fundies will be disgusted.

but hey, what do you expect from nbc, the network (jack welch) that helped perpetrate the gw fraud onto the rest of us, in 2000.
