Seriously, whenever you're feeling unloved, do a thread like "Most romantic movie ever," and you will realize suddenly that it's nothing personal. There's a gazillion people here and the Lounge especially moves very fast. Moreover, most people only ever look at the top half of the front page. Therefore it's only the topics with universal appeal and that everybody knows something about that ever catch fire, and it has almost nothing to do with who starts the thread.
