Is DU under a DoS attack?

For the last hour, I've been having trouble accessing DU. It's pretty much been dead, although I was able to get to a page or two for a couple of minutes - but then the connection died again.

I'm not having trouble with other sites, just DU. :-(

Anyone else having trouble?


On edit: The connection has been steady for the last five minutes, so hopefully whatever's been happening is coming to an end.

Got on briefly and then it wouldn't load. Nothing else.

11. That worked the first time around 10ish

but by 10:26pm (yeah, not too addicted to DU here!) it just wouldn't load any more. Hope this is it and it's back. No posts in the panic room either.

never works these days...

i posted there during the outage here, and the post still hasn't shown up there.

the last message there showing is from 3 days ago.

no offense to the DUPR mod, but that's not much help.

5. I had the same problem probably the servers being overloaded

It happens every one in a while and I have a couple other sights that it happens to also.

6. I couldn't get onto SmirkingChimp or Bartcop either.

I thought it might be an attack on Dem sites, but I couldn't get onto ANY of my favorite sites.

8. The Internet Traffic Reports says ...

there are server problems in Asia and Australia, but the US looks ok. Weird ... :shrug:

Came right up off my bookmark originally, but that message kept coming up trying the links from the DU page I originally had

redid the bookmark thing, still no luck -

so I dunno what was up

I'm using Mozilla 1.6 - no firewalls

All other sites worked fine

...for about half hour or so. I asked Sapph to see if she could get in, and she could. So I began to think it was puter, so I cleaned out my cookies and temp folder and still nothing. LOL Finally I got back in only to learn others had probs too. LOL

22. LOL! I tried everything, too.

I cleared my cache, deleted my cookies, restarted the browser, rebooted the computer, rebooted the modem, tried a different browser ... LOL!

Nothing worked, so then I tried visiting other sites and I had no problem. I figured it was a DU issue and there was no need to continue to drive myself crazy looking for a fix on my end. :argh:

I've had no problems for the last half hour, so hopefully, DU has recovered from whatever ailment it had. :-)

Yeah when I could get into other sites I realized it was DU, and thought may as well just listen to music and do some art before I head for work in a short while.

At first, I thought it was my dial-up connection, but now I think it may be DU problems. I can quickly connect to other sites.

Comcast seemed to be almost completely knocked down for almost two hours here.

If I were paranoid about such things, I'd be wondering what's coming down the pike. Good thing I'm not paranoid.

28. my comcast has been screwed up for a couple hours too

i've been doing all this tap dancing trying to get it moving again; the front page wouldn't load properly--google and accessing other sites was like my horrible compuserve dial-up i used to have.

i was listening to mike malloy and my real player killed out. i managed to get it up on windows media.

i went on du and couldn't login. then the page i was looking at started to fade or do some weird shit.

back again--seems okay now. hopefully this will post.

who's screwing up our internets tonight?
