HEY Moms and Dads!!!! It's Soccer Season again!!!! Wooo freakin hooo!!!

Time to drag out those cleats and find that they are two sizes too small from last fall ("cram them on, we'll buy new ones...later") Time to personally fund bottled water producers nationwide!!! Time to cut up oranges, pick grapes and shove them in baggies for your turn as SNACK PARENT!!!! Time to freeze your *bleep* off as you watch a bunch of 6 year olds chase after the ball like energetic puppies!!!! YAAAAY !!!!! Time to not have a decent dinner (betw 5-7PM) on Tues, Wed.,and Fri nights!!!!!!!

Can you feel the excitement in the Grumpy household?

3. Just starting?
It's a winter sport over here, and (I hope) will be ending soon.

The week-end marked the beginning of the cricket season (which is why it snowed) - now that's a real sport.

Football (alias soccer) is just American football for wimps, American football is just rugby for wimps.

Whyn't you come here and say that to his face? ;)

Actually we play fall and spring season soccer. Same team with a winter break. AYSO. Yay.

7. Wouldn't dare
I'm too much of a wimp even to play football - certainly to challenge him; I can just about manage a game of croquet with a gin and tonic close at hand.

12. I forgot that you're living with the Eskimoes in Michigan
79 degrees and sunny here in Central Texas today.

We've only got 2 games left in the Spring season.

than anywhere else in town. And aluminum bleachers....:scared:
Hope ya'll have a good season! :)

8. freeze?
I sweat to death.

Also, try coaching them. Try having to yell, if only to drown out the "instructions" the parents are trying to give their kids - which runs exactly counter to what I am telling them.

That's probably what gave me the gray hair.

14. I just love it 'cause the kid looks totally confused.
Edited on Tue Apr-12-05 01:17 PM by kick-ass-bob
There's mom/dad on one side telling 'em to go forward and coach telling 'em to go back.
They do neither and the ball rolls right by them.

Just go "woohoo!" and "Go!Go!GO!"

It works better for everyone!

:D

on edit: please tell me you don't get angry at them after the game - I want to deck those parents. (I can't imagine you are)

22. Is emulating rowdy Italian fans considered good form for parents?
Y'know. The smokebombs, flares, loud chants, etc.

freezing out, but sunny. I guess I'll take it. :hi:

Is there any worse form of torture than watching your 9 year old on the mound giving up 6 runs?

pitches softball...and I would leave the games sick sometimes. :hi:

I'm worried she might lose interest in the sport if she ever finds out that they don't let you eat ice cream during the game.
