1. Saying "Slippery Slope" Is Freeperese For
"I do not want to discuss this issue with you, so I will reply with hackneyed innuendo." If you ask them HOW it's a slippery slope, they have no clue. Often, they don't even know what "slippery slope" IS.

3. Well, most of their foreheads resemble slippery slopes
so I guess it's always on what passes for their mind.

4. Just their ignorance showing,
since none of them could ever possibly take a logics class. If they did, they'd know that slippery slope arguments are shit.

5. Calling everything a "slippery slope" is...
...an excuse for them not to budge on an issue or to consider any kind of subtlety or nuance. They are afraid that if they take a single step in any direction they will be on "the slope".

We've used the slippery slope argument often, and well. Church-state separation, freedom of speech, the fight against any restrictions on abortion. Both sides use it because it's effective.

8. It's the only way of opposing developments which are reasonable
You simply state (rightly or wrongly) that it will lead on to bigger things. Then you don't have to defend your position on the matter in hand.

they feel that they give a millimeter, and the world will take a light-year . . . Of course, their "slippery slope" argument ABSOLUTELY NEVER applies to Bush's fascism . . . We're the "fascists" . . .
