I went to day camp in the summers of 1959 and 1960, the peak of the folk revival. I don't know if it was actually required for counselors to know the contents of The Weavers Songbook by heart, but it sure seemed to be. Boy, that brings back memories.

On edit: I'm also of the generation that believes "This Land is Your Land" ought to be the national anthem.
