This is something I try to live by; don't always succeed, though...

4. Thanks!
I read it MANY years ago, and just yesterday thought it would make such a COOL sig line...Glad you agree! I have no idea who the man is who said it originally, though...

10. I give you Stephen Grellet
Ok, Bartleby.com does: http://www.bartleby.com/65/gr/Grellet.html
Yeah, the Quakers were pretty much all good ones, except for Nixon.

12. My dear undisclosedlocation!
Thanks for the link...He was an interesting man IMHO. Had no idea he was a Quaker, though it does make sense. Hard to imagine Nixon as a Quaker, huh? (What in hell happened to HIM?)

2. I like it and I think you've lived up to it
But I also think you have to carry a big stick with you to whack the occasional Republican with.

5. Thanks! Believe me, I DO carry a big stick for Repub-whacking!
I am quite fearsome when angered...lol...

But my gentler side loves this quote a lot, and I want to have that side of me to be dominant, most of the time...

7. Sounds like a good way to live life
It really doesn't take much effort to be nice to people. I wish people remembered that on the Fwy sometimes! LOL

9. Indeed, and strive is all I can do, some days!
Some days I'm a witch with a capital B! When I get enough sleep, there's less chance of that.

17. Turn about is fair play, autorank! It makes me happy when people
notice my threads/posts too...Early AM? Oh yes, you're in VA! Isn't it nearly 2AM there, now? You don't have to go to work or some such? Forgive my nosy questions! I work Monday too, but not till 11AM. Thank God...

BTW, I'm just trying to live up to my sig line by responding to you! This is something (responding) that I truly enjoy doing...

:loveya: too!

18. Welcome to DU!!! I'm usually up late. I set my own hours and
start around 11:00 or noon, work until 8:00pm, and love it! I hope you enjoy all the green out there this Spring. I'm a native Californian and I love visiting my state every now and then. This is a very nice thread. Answering messages on DU is always fun and makes for nice exchanges like this. You're on my buddy list!

19. Well, autorank, you have touched me profoundly...
Thank you. And yes, I am enjoying all the wonderful green here...the rain really brought out the wildflowers. Did you read about Death Valley? There was at least one shallow lake, and the wildflowers were wall to wall, according to some friends of mine who saw them...

Where in CA are you from? It is a great state, IMHO! I'm the only one in my nuclear family who wasn't born here...My husband and two daughters all were...

Thanks for putting me on your buddy list! I am very touched by your thoughtfulness. I mean that.

20. Sacramento, Central CA, Santa Barbara...in that order.
I enjoyed it but moved back East to NYC, "reverse migration." NYC and VA have both been great but I have such great memories of the "Golden State." What part are you in? Do you like it?

21. My husband and I live in the seaside town of Manhattan Beach, which
is on the Santa Monica Bay, just south of LAX. We love it here, having lived here since Dec. 1968! A pretty little town, with wonderful ocean access close by. The freeways suck but I do love LA. Such a variegated, interesting city. And when the skies are clear, the mtn. and ocean views are to die for...We will live out our lives here...Who can afford to move? lol

I'm off to bed! Lovely chatting with you tonight! I'll look for your username, down the road...
