Guess I had been lulled into complacency here because of all the strong, supportive and encouraging posts that I've read over the 6/8 mos. I have been here. I just got my first nasty pm attacking what I do for a living as "degrading to all women". You may ask what it is that I do, but my point was that I thought these Democrats to be a little more open-minded that your usual ya-hoo. Sorry to bring this into public, but I am indeed surprised to be so quickly attacked. Oh well, guess it's my learning experience-my skin is quite thin at the moment.:wtf:

Well, here's my two cents...

and not meant to be judgemental. In a society where true gender equality existed and where we had a healthy attitude about sex and the human body...what you do for a living would be no big deal. But because we live in a society where women are still often treated like second class citizens and where our sexuality is too often appropriated by men to sell everything from cars to daipers...it's easy to call what you do "degrading" to women. Because our society is so fucked up some men look at you and other strippers and think that that not only your sexuality but the sexuality of all women is a commodity for sale.

Note I didn't say all men.

Like I said, the way our society is isn't your fault so yelling at you and other strippers is kind of blaming the victim.

Honestly, in the society we live in, the men who stuff dollars down g-strings are pretty degraded too.

Shame we can't live in a less fucked up world.
