How often do foreign countries update their currency?

The US seems to have revamped its currency a lot over the last several years.

And we're finally introducing color; something foreign countries have been doing for decades, if not longer.

I wonder, given the gap of intelligence between US citizens and the civilized world, should we have outsourced the monetary redesign project?

Or perhaps we did, as the money isn't all RED, WHITE, and BLUE - how unpatriotic is that? :eyes:

2. Here in Canada it's done regularly.

Though the colors stay the same. Blue=$5,purple+$10,green=$20,red=$50 and so on.

3. Most European countries

have regular updates.

We're unusual in that until recently our currency hadn't been changed since before WWII, other than some minor changes in some coins.
