NEW YORK -- Actor Brad Pitt is denying a report of a romance with actress Angelina Jolie.

Pitt attacked a cover story in Us Weekly. The story quoted employees of a California hotel who say they saw the two being affectionate.

Pitt and Jolie are co-stars of the upcoming movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Tabloids have speculated for months about romance.

The cover screams, "It's True!"

According to Us Weekly, Pitt and Jolie "frolicked" by the pool. And the magazine said they "frolicked" in a "secluded villa" at the Parker Palm Springs on Easter weekend.

The magazine quoted onlookers who said, "It's obvious they were a couple…they were kissing and holding each other."

Pitt's publicist, Cindy Guagenti, told the TV show "Access Hollywood" that "this particular story is completely untrue."

"Because these tabloids are making so much money, and yes, I consider Us Weekly a tabloid, they go to great lengths to corroborate their stories, whether they are true or not," said Pitt.
