I feel terrible - I broke my friend's martini glass!
Dammit, I'm so clumsy. I was rinsing out the thing and he gave me a bunch of ice he didn't need and asked me to dump it in the sink, but some of the ice fell against the glass, and a piece of it broke! It was a gift from his parents.

Oh well, have any idea where I can get a cheap martini glass?

1. was it a cheap glass?

if not, don't replace it with a cheap one. And if it was cheap, it's probably not that big of a deal.

I had a roommate who had some expensive crystal glasses that I broke. We went shopping to buy her new ones, but she couldn't find any she liked. I didn't feel nearly as bad about the whole thing as she wanted me to. I was more than willing to pay for them, but I didn't see why I should worry if she refused to accept any available in high end department stores.

3. My friend was very cool about it

and he didn't care very much about it.

The impression I got was that it was purchased from a run of the mill department store (Kmart, etc)...

I guess I shouldn't worry too much since it wasn't like it was some sort of fancy imported Czech crystal...Then I'd be feeling really bad!

5. Crate and barrel has inexpensive glassware
K-mart is not the run of a mill department store and NO ONE buys wedding gifts there. You can be certain it is not a k-mart glass.

We shopped at Daytons, now known as Marshall Fields.

4. If a chunk of ice hitting it can make it..
crumble do you really want to take a drink from it. By exposing the lack of integrity in the glass you saved lives. You are a hero.
