9. Well, sorta.

Until tonight, we hadn't elected a non-Democratic mayor in 36 years. Usually, the city votes Democratic, and the county votes Republican. Tonight, an independent candidate won the mayoralty, and the Republican candidate received only 4% of the vote. Basically the reason I got so many votes, I think, is because I have a Scandinavian last name and this are is heavily populated with Swedes. If I can get 14,441 votes doing nothing, if I campaigned for one day, I probably would have won.
