I just had this interview/chat with this couple in my town who are opening a new cafe/produce place. It sounds like it's going to be so awesome, and even if they don't hire me I'm so going to shop there. They'll have veggies and fruit and then a cafe with sandwiches, coffee, salads. All that good stuff.

And so they had this advertisement about jobs, and I called the number so they gave for a job app.
Well they called the other day and the lady talked with my mom because I wasn't here and she said she had so many people call in, and she wasn't sure if she could get me one. But she continued to chat with my mom and liked my mom so much she said that I could come in for an interview!!!! HAHA YAY MOMMY! But it's good because I'm a lot like my mom in a lot of ways, and with dealing with people.

So I just had the interview, I had typed out a little cover letter and all that, since I didn't have the job app. But it went well, and we had a nice time chatting, and it's good because I live close by in town, and have a flexible schedule.

I had an interview a week and a half ago with the "unit manager", and a "second" interview right then with the president of the company. He told me there were two of us being considered.

I was a little deflated on Monday when HR e-mailed that the other candidate had been selected, but could I follow up with a phone call. I did call the HR manager, who said I was someone she would like to have in the company, and would I consider a different job if she could rework something suitable?

Friday I got a call that the original job may be open again, and could I come in Tuesday afternoon to s/w the unit manager again, but this time she needs to be there too. (She is only in that office once or twice a week.)

I have been temping for more than two years now, and really, really need a permanent job with benefits, etc. (Mortgage holders just don't seem to have a sense of humor about these things.) This job is really fascinating, and will pay me what I was making before I was laid off.
It is even 20 miles closer to home...and with the price of gas nowadays, that really begins to add up pretty quickly!

Looks like DUers are beginning to get some good luck on our side for a change, eh?
