Recommendations for department stores/clothing store chains
that have a good selection of pants/jeans in smaller ladies sizes (like 2's or 4's)? Please, let's not make this an issue about my size :scared:. My birthday is coming up soon and I would like to get some pants that actually fit me. I currently own one pair of jeans that fit me. I need more pants (especially since we'll be moving back north in a few months). I had a very hard time finding these sizes a few months ago at Walmart. I found maybe two pairs of 4's, one pair was too big and the other pair was too short. I have very little patience for shopping :grr:! I'll go crazy  if I have to go all over town looking for a pair of pants that fit, so I'm hoping someone can recommend a few stores where I'll most likely to be able to find what I'm looking for. I'm not looking to buy anything pricey ($20ish).

1. Tar-zhay maybe?
I'm always disappointed at how SMALL their clothes are cut -- hopefully that's not your problem and you can find something there that fits, is stylish, and doesn't cost a car payment.

4. I was thinking Target...
but I wasn't sure if they carried smaller sizes. I guess I can give them a shot.

2. Marshalls or Ross?
They usually have a pretty good selection in small sizes and you should be able to get a name breand pair of jeans for $20.

7. Ok.. thanks...
I've heard of these stores, but never actually go to one of them before. I do very little shopping, as you can probably tell.

3. I'm not sure, but two things:

1--Can you take 'regular' jeans to a tailor and get them sized for you? I'm not sure what that would entail with jeans, but I expect it wouldn't cost that much (as in, less than $20).

2-I am the last person to believe this, but when you get the money, invest in a good, over $100 pair of jeans that fit you right. Actually, I'd suggest going to Nordstrom or whatever, and trying on the Seven For All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, Blue Cult, and Paper, Denim, and Cloth jeans just to know if they solve the problem--and then buying them off ebay or TJMaxx/Marshall's or something. The expensive jeans may not fit you either, but at least you'll know.

Sometimes you have to spend the money on certain things--I have to buy expensive bras because regular ones don't do the job I want, which ultimately becomes a waste of money anyway.

I should say I'm quite not wealthy, btw....

8. I was trying to think of the name of that chain. Glad you did.
At one time, a very long time ago, I was able to shop there, but I have outgrown them now.

I've never heard of that store before. I'll see if there is one in my area.

6. Try Delias.com. They have lots of small sizes.
But they are a little pricey. The cheapest pants are around $25.

9. I've heard of them...
I have a friend that buys stuff from them a lot, but I'd be able to try on the clothes before I buy them.

10. I don't know how old you are, but have you tried the Juniors
Department in various stores? My daughter is 13, and she shops Juniors. She wears a size 0-1. Can you believe that? I haven't been a size 1 since I was a fetus! Anyway, she seems to be able to find a lot of styles for pants in those small sizes.

Have you tried JC Penney, Boscov's, etc?

12. Nah.. I haven't tried any place yet.
I'm just trying to get some info before I bother to go shopping. As I said, I get really impatient when I go shopping, especially for clothes. I'm likely to give up and not get any thing for myself if I go to one or two stores that have nothing in my size.

13. You might try the girls dept !
It worked for me during my super-thin years.

Also, I think it's Lands End that has a custom jean "fitter" on their website?

15. LOL
Except I think the girl's department consists of mostly Oslen Twins stuff these days (at Walmart anyhow).

14. My wife is usually a size 0
and I wish she would gain 5-10 pounds. She has a lot of trouble finding clothes that fit her.

For nicer clothes for work, she will go to places like Ann Taylor or Petite Sophisticate... and a few other places.

For jeans, I don't really know. I know she has bought a few casual things at a place called "Forever 21" - it's for younger women (my wife is 34)... but, at least they have smaller sizes.

16. Thanks.. I'll keep those in mind.
I had never heard of Forever 21 before. Apparently, there's one that's just two miles away from where I live.
