Well, lounge lizards, after many years of grad school, I'm off to defend my doctoral thesis. Thank you all for being a welcome distraction during my studies.

I'll check back after my oral exam. Hopefully, by then I'll be Dr. giant_robot.

I've been in graduate school entirely too long, and after that oral exam, I'm definately tired of questions! :)

Thanks to all my well-wishers. You were right, dispacedtexan, the worst part came when my presentation was over and I had to field questions during the oral exam. By that time I was just tired and about to lose my voice.

Personally I don't like titles much. I didn't even like being called sergeant when I was in the USAF. But when it comes time to write Hillary about the next judicial nominee, you can bet I'll whip out the old "Dr.".

In the meantime, I think I'll insist my friends call me Dr. giant_robot for about a day. After that, I'll get over myself and everyone can go back to calling me John.
