SHOCKED!! Woman Who Found Finger In Wendy's Chili Files Lawsuit
<snip>

A woman who officials say bit down on part of a finger in a bowl of chili at a Wendy's restaurant in California has taken the first step toward pursuing a lawsuit.

She has filed a claim with the franchise owner.

Health authorities in California said the woman scooped up the 1½ long human finger in a mouthful of chili at a Wendy's in San Jose, Calif., last week. She immediately spit out the finger and warned others to stop eating. Then she got sick.

The county medical examiner said the human finger was cooked but not decomposed.

She's said that knowing a human body part was in her mouth was "disgusting." Her attorney said he'll try to seek a resolution without having to go to court.

A Wendy's spokesman isn't commenting on the claim. He said Wendy's maintains the finger did not enter the food chain in its ingredients.

1. Wendys would be wise to pay her off, quick
Unless they have evidence that this woman brought the said finger with her to add to the chili for flavor, this will cost them a lot more in the long run.
Dave Thomas, RIP, would have written this little lady a million dollar check and gone on his merry way

8. In the thirties it was a joke that free meal was coming if you had a dead
persons finger or a few large bugs to drop on the plate after you had eaten at the resturant.

The theme made it into many movies.

4. I'd check the hands of all those in her family & DNA tests
How many people might trade a finger tip for a cool million or so?

5. Having a body part in her mouth is "disgusting"?
OK, so I don't want to go out with her....

So I wonder if a lifetime supply of free chili and triple-cheezburgers is part of her demands?

The need to answer the question of who's finger is it.

9. Addendum to story
5 other people who ate at Wendy's are also being represented by the same lawyer. They felt grossed out too, so they think they should sue as well.

No, I'm serious. I'll try to find the link - I heard it on the radio.

20. If I had been eating chili from the same pot as where a
human finger had been stewing for who knwos how long, I'd have tough time resisting. I'd be pretty angry/traumatized. YUCK.

"She's said that knowing a human body part was in her mouth was "disgusting.""

Um, like your tongue? Or your own finger, if you lick that ever?

I'm just being a pain in the ass, it would totally have grossed me out, too. Blech.

11. I have to wonder...
...if someone at the processing plant lost a finger, wouldn't they know about it? Wouldn't they have been looking for the finger? If there was even the remotest possibility that it may have fallen into the vat, wouldn't they have 86'ed the whole batch? This leads me to two possible conclusions:

1. They just don't give a shit at Wendy's. Dave Thomas should be turning over in his grave.

2. Tony's boys were at the plant after hours to take care of some rather unfortunate business. Dead Mob guy burgers, anyone?

13. It wasn't made at Wendy's.
Their chili supplier would be the place to look.

I think #2 is probable. :D

14. No, chances are they all buy the same stuff from a rendering plant
in middle America, largely employed by illegals doing the nasty work in dangerous conditions. No, they wouldn't be looking for it, and the worker would've been lucky if he was afforded a hospital trip at all.

A finger is small time, in the grand scheme of American ground meat processing.

Read Fast Food Nation. I haven't eaten a fast foot burger since.

17. True. An illegal losing a fingertip would not be reported to OSHA, etc.
