Poll question: Foreign Film Night
Edited on Tue Mar-29-05 01:54 AM by JVS
Because Monday night has a $1 special on foreign films, I rented a couple. Which should I watch first? Tonight's theme is mid 20th century Russian

1. I would go for Nevsky
I mean Eisenstein is one of the most brilliant directors of the 20th century. You will probably like it.

3. I love this film.
If you see it, I hope it's the restored version with a re-recorded sountrack, that makes a big difference. The score to this film is amazing. If you watch an earlier version of it, the music is horrible and barely audible.

right now I am on the track of a Japanese film from a few years back called "Heaven and Earth" its a beautiful film with spectacular cinematography but at the moment its on hiatus. So every month I make the rounds looking for it so I can buy it on DVD and own it.

2. There's an English film I want to see again
The plot goes that a lifelong Arsenal fan is always cheering for his team despite the fact they haven't won a championship in years. Anyway it follows him thru the years as an Arsenal fan while going thru life's triles and tribulations. He ends up knocking up his girlfriend that is a co-worker at the school he teaches at and the relationship hinges on whether Arsenal wins the league title.
Very good movie.
