CubsFan1982's Aphorism of the Day: Job hunting sucks.
Now beginning month five of Unemployment Odyssey, part IV. Not having money of your own blows. Just gets more and more frustrating as door after door slams right in your face for a variety of reasons. "Oh, you don't have enough experience." "You have too much experience." "We can't work around your classes", blah, blah, fucking blah. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Thank you for reading this nonsensical mini-rant. We now bring you back to Terri Schiavo Death Watch, Day Nine.

2. Hang in there. Do something you Really like.

It must be hard to be in real trouble like that and see everyone freaking out for all kinds of bizarre reasons over the TS thing.

Meditate, de-stress, take care of yourself . . . .

3. It's hard to find something you really like.
Especially when it requires a degree of some sort. All that's left are shit jobs, and even THEY won't deign to hire you. Just gets a little frustrating, that's all.

But thanks for the advice! :toast:

4. I know what you mean.
I'm a Sprint layoff, for over 2 years, and over 50. Things have been picking up a little lately, but NOW I can't take a job, because I've got to move to Louisville for my husband's job. He's also a Sprint layoff and nearly 60.

My son, with a college degree, has been going through jobs for years. I used to teach high school seniors, so I appreciate how not everyone is cut out for the American job market. You've got to be a shark and compete like hell, or you get crap.

It's time for someone to start some kind of alternative economic system(s), read that "intentional communities", communes, co-housing, or however you like, but there ought to be more choices than sacrificing yourself to this man-eating monster we call the "American Dream".

5. I'm with you..
I've sent resumes for jobs that should be slam-dunks and heard nothing. All I can say is hang in there.
