Who here likes snakes?
Specifically, who'd like to adopt a male boa constrictor, 5-6 feet in length, 7 years old? He needs a 55 gallon tank and someone experienced in the feeding and care of boas.

A friend of mine is babysitting said snake for another friend of hers who happens to be a real flake and is making noises about not wanting the snake anymore. My friend can't cope with another rescue pet (her house is brimming with birds, cats, etc.) and so I thought I'd see if anyone here might be interested in adopting the boa. She's in western NCarolina, right on the border of Georgia, if that makes a difference to anyone who's interested.

Thanks.

2. hmmm. only if you let him wander loose!
then you'd need a mongoose. Actually, I think mongooses (mongeese?) are for cobras, right? Rikki Tikki Tavi time.

He'd have to stay in the glass tank for the kitties to be safe.

3. Your friends best bet would be to sale or give it to a pet store or
a zoo. My brother has 20 + snakes, but has sold a couple when the got too big.

5. thanks very much...
I'll send these links on to her. The snake's "owner" is battling a very bad meth addiction and just can't seem to keep it together, my friend doesn't even want to give the snake back to her b/c she's afraid it would be mistreated or ignored or forgotten... and the friend seems to know she's not a suitable snake parent anymore which is one of the reasons why she's making noises about abandoning it. Not a good situation.

6. I've kept snakes off and on....how tame is this Boa?
I adopted an albino Burmese python once that had been mis-handled a lot - he was nasty for quite awhile.....wouldn't want to go through that again. He had quite an appetite though...feeding was never a problem.

9. I think he's pretty tame, has been handled since he was a baby
by humans. I don't think he's been mishandled, but perhaps misfed (roadkill instead of fresh, more sanitized meat)... my friend says he's pretty good but she just doesn't know him real well (she kept snakes for a while, has had many boas and he's from this same group she knows, she just doesn't know this particular snake well).

I can find out for you. What else might you want to know?

10. No, I don't think I'm ready for another snake right now.
I think she'd be better off selling him to a pet store.
Quickly. If he has any diseases - they're better prepared to handle it.

7. I dig snakes.
but I don't think I'd want one to adopt. I don't think I could handle feeding it the mice. :scared: But I really enjoy visiting them and petting them. I'm the same way with birds -- other people's are fun, but none for me, thanks!

12. Mice?
Something that size doesn't eat mice. That would be like feeding a tic tac to a human being :scared:
