2. SPAC really is a great venue...
where else can you stroll around a venue with so many trees? Granted the sight lines from the lawn are terrible if you are beyond the first 50 yards, but hey.

3. Us old hippies like it
Parking isn't a problem - if you go early and enjoy a picnic first  :toast:

:hippie: Then relax on a blanket under those beautiful trees and enjoy the wonderful sounds.

6. You could hear a cork pop across the parking lot...
but what the heck! We enjoyed one helluva a concert. We expected rain and went anyway. The last 1/2 of the concert was rather wet, we didn't mind. It was a warm summer's night *sigh*.

8. cool. tom petty on xm satellite
plays his personal selections from his record collection once a week for an hour. tells stories, compares artists, lots of variety, lots of lost classics, talks in that cool southern drawl.

tom petty, great american artist who is no longer good looking enough for mainstream music.

9. Alright, goddamn it where's the NW dates?
Labor day weekend, Tom?

Hell, play Bumbershoot, that would kick ass.

See this tour, by all means if you get a chance. Petty & the Heartbreakers are at their best when they don't have an album to promote and are just playing for the sake of playing. Last time they did a tour like that (2000 or 2001 ?) it was a great mix of music. Lots of older stuff, blues covers, country songs. Jam band approach without all the extended 30 minute solos.
