Artistically talented Lounge Lizards check in.
I know there are more than a few of you out there...

If so what medium are you best at...

Of course I'm talking about the visual arts here.

What do you do?

1. I'm not, but my daughter is
She's only nine, but more than one non-related person has been impressed. She puts details into drawings that most kids her age don't see, and she can pretty much draw anything she sees. She's taking classes once a week to further her talent.

6. I always thought there should be a Preforming Art Group here at DU
For actors, singers, lighting technicians, scenery makers, play writers, dancers, and so on...

I wonder why anyone hasn't started one yet...

So I'm not the one to start such a group...

7. I am a visual artist...
My specialties are pencil drawings, graphics, and computer animation.

I also airbrush, and do caricatures. An example of my CG skills are below, I created the graphic in my sig.

That's not the best of my work however, my online gallery can be found here.

33. Cradled wood . . .
Thank you, NoSheep. Cradled sort of means "braced" so that the painting won't buckle over time; it's pretty necessary for large pieces on wood or panel for that reason.

23. Photography
I was working as a photographer, gave it up due to private/financial reasons, and currently am working very hard to get into it again.

I did also write for my living, but only journalistic stuff, and of course it's not visual arts.

37. hey, longgrain, there you are...its all good...
checking back in between this & that, glad you like 'the stuff'; before jamming back out for more droll of commerce here's the blue buddha for good measure:

The Blue Buddha ~___

Where it is as with Shakespeare on occasion, “All things are converted.” i.e., great joys are made pensive musings, pensive musings turned grand concourse, grand concourse rend into dire consequence…maybe more; so it is with The Buddha as a young, improvisational jazz musician: all things are converted…East meets West,

I Ching ~___

41. Sun/Decrease
33. Tun/Retreat
15. Chien/Modesty
58. Tui/The Joyous Lake (on it’s face a ‘joyous’ notion to be sure but in the end even a joyous lake, well…it just sits there…)

Becomes they then:

32. Heng/Duration
42. I/Increase
45. Tu’si/Massing &
48. Ching/The Well

These converted aspects flowing about as with music’ themselves near to ‘a tripplet’, three notes on one beat, itself, at least for me, a Trinity Allegory, cross-wise from The Buddha’s mouthpiece it self suggesting a ‘begging bowl’ and it is done: The Blue Buddha.

30. Have done some writing, poetry and cartooning
in the past but have been woefully uninspired for the last 8 years or so. I created a political cartoon for a while in college, was about all the actual work I've done related to that field. Everything else was just done and relegated to a box of stuff in my attic that I had done in the past.

I've hoped at some point to get back to it, but I guess I just have to wait and see. I don't know what it is... but Massachusetts literally sucked the creative life out of me. I did alot more work on creative arts at almost every point in my life that I didn't live in Mass. I'm hoping that my upcoming move to Vermont may spark some renewed energies. Gonna just have to wait and see I guess.

35. Hey Discord, I hope you find your muse again...
I went about seven years from the time I left art school to the time I was capable of painting again...Vermont can be a very liberal and inspiring place.

Best of luck out there...:hi:

and like to talk about, but like photography, it does require an understanding of the visual skills...

38. I love the visual arts.
I don't know what I would do with my life if I didn't do art:
http://home.triad.rr.com/amysgallery/

I have a knack for very detailed watercolors-I work from dark to light (like oils) in glazes. The technique is all mine. The things you can learn by copying works in a different medium.

I also like computer graphics, drawing with graphite, figure drawing, caricature, photography and assemblage.

39. I hesitate to call myself an artist
because I can't paint, draw, sculpt or do anything by hand, but I love to dabble with computer graphics - mainly using POVRay. Here's a link to some of my stuff (the ones I'm not too embarassed to let people see) at renderosity if anybody is interested (or just needs a good laugh and yes I know I'm warped :)) - http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?ByArtist=Yes&Artist=jtm%5F11&Form.sess_id=33142092&Form.sess_key=1111706241
