Another friend of mine from college has died

I worked with Ken at the Daily at the University of Washington. He was a really sweet and funny guy. He was from Aberdeen, and like his fellow student at Weatherwax High, Kurt Cobain, took to wearing flannel shirts and often had his hair in his eyes.

After college he drifted. A lot. He had some pretty major health, depression and addiction problems going back to the early '90s. He was in Austin, then in Madison, then in Boston. That's where we lost track of him. And a few days ago, he was found dead outside an L station in Chicago, where he'd been living for a while. I just tried looking it up on the Chicago Tribune website but had no luck. :(

I was just in Texas, and Neil and I met up with another friend of mine from the Daily who now lives in San Antonio. That was Saturday night, and we had the requisite "Where are they now?" conversation. Today we heard the sad news.

Rest in peace, Ken. Your time with us was too short. I really regret not making more of an effort to stay in touch. :cry:

From the list of where he had lived it sounds like he was free spirit in search of something. Those are all very liberal towns, with a lot of eclectic souls.
