Cat conniption
Scenario: cat falls asleep in the same room the humans are in. Humans leave, cat wakes up to an empty room, cat screams her head off until humans come to her "rescue". Humans calling back to cat to let her know they're still in the house is insufficient.

She's fine when the humans go out to dinner and such, so what the heck is that about?

2. Wake The Cat Up
before you leave the room, wake the cat up by gently petting her for a moment, then leave.

How do you know she is fine when you leave for dinner? Maybe it is just that you aren't there to hear her cry.

5. I'll try that
I hate to wake up sleeping cats in general, but you have a good suggestion there...

We'd hear her from the garage if she started screaming when we leave, though. She's amazingly loud.

Sometimes I think it's just another form of control.

6. Osiris
(my sphynx) will run around the house yapping until I answer her. My calico will just get dirty socks from the laundry and cry with them in her mouth.

8. She probably does it when you go out,
but gets it out of her system and stops, probably exhausted.

She's figured out that it gets your attention. She's a smart one.

9. That she is
and boy, does she know which buttons to push!

She has a very distinctive "I'm getting mauled by my brothers" emergency scream that'll turn your hair white. Her bros are twice her size, so we pay attention to that one. The "where did everybody go?" song is quite different.

10. my old Scamp used to wake up in the night and wander around
with this plaintive "Mew? Mew? Mew?" until somebody said her name and called to her to come to them. She would then proceed to join the person who called, cuddle in and purr for the rest of the night.

She literally got lost in her own house.

You are expected to pick the cat up and carry her with you around the house, so she won't be put to such trouble. Sheesh, as cat owner I would think you would know this already! :eyes:

Edit: forgot to post this link: pictures of our Ragdoll Temujin, who would never do something like that.
