I'm on the "blacklist" at work
I don't know whether this is just totally demented or a really weird kind of compliment.

Apparently people who are nice to me and talk to me at work have been called in and told not to be so sociable, not to talk. :( If you knew me I'm not a big talker, so I don't chat up too much at work.

Apparently a friend who's been on sick leave for awhile was called in and told not to be so sociable with everybody, because we were talking a bit on monday, the first day she's been back for a while. :(

I've never been on a blacklist before. :(

1. What kind of place do you work at?
This sounds like some kind of harassment.

I have always talked and socialized too much. :P

My 7th grade teacher even called me aside and told me that she could not believe that no matter who she sat me next to, I was able to strike up a friendshhip and talk my head off to them.
Always got a Needs/Improvement in Conduct.
Oh well.

It continued in my work career as well....

EDIT: Maybe you should gt a job where being friendly and social is part of the job.

9. There's a looooong history at my workplace.
Pay and benefits are fine, it's just that some of the people are making life really bad for others. :scared:

Maybe one of these days I'll get another job, right now I need this oen. :(

7. Thanks
They hate the wrong people at work. They really go after the wrong people, but that's the way they are.

All the nice people get treated so badly, it's a shame. :(

11. Hopefully it passes - really quickly
absurd rules often do.

Sorry about this - I agree with GOPisEvil - talk with us instead :D at least until the "absurdity rule according to salin" kicks in.

Maybe it's not about you, maybe they just want to cut down on all the socializing on the job, and they didn't talk to you because you're a not talker anyway.

13. I'm not a talker that's just the thing.
:( People think I'm quiet, my pal thinks because me and another person she was friendly with are not "liked" by management (or this one person) she was being targeted. She has much as said so to the supervisor who talked to her.
She didn't care for this treatment and stood up for herself. :)

16. I meant to say NOT a talker (typo)
It sounds really stressful. Political crap on the job really sucks, I've been there!

Sometimes these problems "blow over," I hope it all works out for you.

15. Might not be you.
I've given such blanket commands in our department when one or two people are spending too much of their work time socialising. It's less humiliating to tell everyone to pipe down than it is to single out a couple of folks.

The sad part is, the really chatty and disruptive people rarely get the point; and the quiet ones, whose work I'm usually just trying to safeguard, almost always feel hurt and singled out.

18. Take notes and make a record.
That's part of what makes a "hostile work environment" and is definitely actionable.
