Edited on Wed Mar-23-05 07:06 PM by Fenris
Give yourself time to relax.;)

"Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Cortez the Killer" or "American Pie" can be used for shorter breaks.

17. In the 80s my college radio standards were....
"Sister Ray" by the Velvet Underground (17:30)

or

"Autobahn" by Kraftwerk (22:25, I think)

2. Gotta be
the album version of "In-a-Gadda-da-Vida" (17 minutes). Even better, the album version of Rare Earth's "Get Ready" which is like twenty minutes... although I've never actually heard that version on the radio.

12. American Pie or Riders On The Storm...
Of course, with automation in most stations, there is no need for long songs for a potty break.

19. That's true.
The second radio station I worked for played all its music fired out of the computer. I still did my show live, but at the half-hour, we did a "No Talk Triple Play", which, taking a cue from my previous job, I referred to off-air as a "Go Smoke Triple Play".

14. Another one: Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding
Around 11 minutes, as I recall--enough time to dash to the potty AND the coke machine/coffee pot. And maybe stop in and chat quickly with the DJ on your sister station in the control room down the hall.

At the first radio station I worked for, we called them "go smoke songs."

21. Santana's Free Form Funkafide Filth lyrics - 24:54

Did the blues ever get you?
Till you didn?t know what to do
Have you ever cried
The whole night, and all the morning too
The whole world?s in trouble
Running right & left
You better hold on to what you?ve got, brother
And look out for yourself
I said you better take care of yourself

25. "Echoes"
I used to play it on my radio show in college when it was time for a smoke break. At 23 1/2 minutes, it was plenty of time to have a smoke, run to the bathroom and grab a bite at the snack bar downstairs.

26. Depends on
whether you're talking about a radio DJ or a dance DJ.

Radio DJ: Dazed and Confused
Dance DJ: It's My Life (by Talk Talk--extended version)
