19. It was actually my best friend who finally said it out loud
After I gave my Mom some of my red sauce (her specialty, natch.) She originally said how good it was and how I could make it as good as her yadda yadda yadda. But the next day I asked if she really liked it and she said (wait for it)

"Well, it was after I doctored it up a little."

I laughed, what ya' gonna do?
But my best friend (who has known us both for 20 years) said, "Wow, she really is Marie Barone!"

Marie Barone is a caricature -- but I love her anyway! I particularly like it that she is has "real curves" -- somewhat overweight, but who cares?

This week's re-run was a scream. Marie joins an amateur sculpture class and creates an "abstract" piece that looks like -- well, you decide -- but it's hilarious. Anyone else see it?

49. Oh, what a handsome Longhorn!
I can't read what county in Texas you've posted on the photo, but we were in the hill country around San Antonio last year at this time -- riding Western on the white rocks! I always pretended I was a cowgirl, even when I was a youngster living in Miami, Florida, where I took care of a mare and a stallion while a teenager (before I discovered boys!)...

56. He lives in Lampassas County, northwest of Austin.
I do family calendars every year -- personalized with a computer program and my photos. Last year, the theme was Central Texas nature shots and I got some of the photos on our way home from Dallas going the "back way" down U.S. 281.

Sounds like a fun trip, by the way. Seems like I only go horseback riding when we go to Colorado! ;)

25. Marion Ross ("Mrs. C") on "Happy Days"
She had a sexiness about her that couldn't be hidden; the outtakes and "secret" clips on the "Happy Days" reunion show a month or two ago only proved it. (She and Henry Winkler were flirting like teenagers.) Anyone else remember the episode when Marion got tipsy and was dancing with Fonzie in the living room? Very few other sitcom moms would've done that.

37. I Know I'll Get Hammered For This
But, my fave is Jill Taylor from Home Improvement. I really don't understand all the "hatin'" on that show.

Enlightened, educated parents who give their kids plenty of rope. Smart next door neighbor that allows them to drop in all kinds of nuggets of literary greatness who also can act as Greek chorus as all chaos breaks around him. The whole show within the show.

It's a nice, uplifting show and she's the smartest, most accepting, yet strong mom ever, IMO.

My wife and i love that show, and have since we first watched it. I'd watch it any time over current tripe like Bernie Mac's borefest.

48. Peggy Cass as the mother Elinore Hathaway on "The Hathaways"
When I was a little kid in 1960 I absolutely LOVED that show. It was about a real estate agent (comedian Jack Weston) and his wife (Peggy Cass) who adopt a family of three performing chimpanzees and raise them like regular children. To me it was an absolute laugh riot, but another real weird show like "My Mother The Car". I never got over the fact they cancelled that show. Now, it also makes me think of Barbara Bush.

50. Dharma's mom ("Abby") on Dharma and Greg ...
Edited on Fri Mar-25-05 12:39 AM by gauguin57
... played by Mimi Kennedy.

I had a wonderful, "traditional" Mom and Dad. Really the salt of the Earth ... I wouldn't have traded them for anyone else.

However, when I was a teen-ager, I used to wish I was a red-diaper baby -- that my parents were hippies or Socialists or had a salon full of dangerous intellectuals at the house every night or took me to civil rights marches and stuff.

So, in tribute to that little pipe dream from my adolescence, I like Dharma's mom.

Maude might be a close second (but she'd have sucked all the air out of the room).

Yeah, but not because of the Partridge Family. I rented "Elmer Gantry" where I believe she won an Oscar for playing Lulu Bains. The scene in her slip and stockings where she tempts Burt Lancaster has a sexual tension rarely achieved. My God, she was hot.
