Have you ever typed up a response only to decide it's not worth it?

Today I have started to respond to a thread nearly a dozen times...but I'm certain nothing I can say will change anyone's mind. It's frustrating.

20. most of the time I never hit "send" and back out of the response.

about 8 out of 10 of my posts never go through. the ones I DONT send are usually the longest. I often find people whom I have befriended in the lounge have political views that I dont agree with when i see their posts in the political forums and I am reluctant to get into it with them.

It's always disheartening to find that someone you really enjoy in the lounge has opinions that are so radically different from yours about issues that matter to you. I can relate.

and when/if i DO hit "send" I always regret and often don't dare to venture back when i see responses to my comments in "my posts". I am a hardcore atheist who believes most our problems stem from religion so you can see why.I find it useless most of the time to even discuss because atheists and religionists don't except the initial premise of each other so how can an argument be of any use. I am not trying to hijack your thread and start a discussion on this particular topic but it is the ONE general topic I need to just walk away from everytime here at DU but sometimes I just can't help myself. and i hit "send" when I should just back out.

It's not even funny, I'll read threads in GD and type something out, and then I'll say to myself "you don't want to get into" and I'll cancel out. I do it sometimes in the lounge too. D'oh.

Sometimes I have posted a response then decided it is to personal and deleted. I am shy, when it comes to people knowing me. And I have started to post angry responses in GD and stopped because I am just not in the mood to have a slugging match with someone. They have their opinion and I have mine.

Usually when I decide a person is getting too mean, ugly or irrational. Yes I could defend myself from some jerkoff's angry post but then it would just continue and get worse. Its no reason to make a mean and snide post of my own in response.
