List anti-radio or radio-critique songs you like
i.e. One more song the radio won't like by Kathleen Edwards
Last DJ - Tom Petty, Radio Radio by Elvis Costello, etc.

I thought of this this am when my fave alternative radio station pandered to blandness by playing 25% boring proscribed crap designed to lull the audience into market ready complacency! This is why people buy Sirius or program their own music.

4. The Ramones do seem to have a lot of those
I love that one. Phil Spector insanity not withstanding. Great sound.

Another point toward the Ramone's greatness!

6. "Bring the Noise" - Public Enemy

"Radio stations, I question their blackness
They call themselves Black
But we'll see if they play this
TURN IT UP!"

Also: "We're Turning Again" by Frank Zappa:

"Jimi come back....
No one can do it like you used to
If you listen to the radio and what they play today
You can tell right away
all those assholes really need you...."

"Unheard Music" by X:

"No Hardcore on the car radio
Just smooth chords on the car radio....."

9. I was going to say "Panic" by The Smiths...
...but that seems to be more about clubs than radio:

Panic on the streets of London
Panic on the streets of Birmingham
I wonder to myself
Could life ever be sane again?
The Leeds side-streets that you slip down
I wonder to myself
Hopes may rise on the grasmere
But honey pie, you’re not safe here
So you run down
To the safety of the town
But there’s panic on the streets of Carlisle
Dublin, Dundee, Humberside
I wonder to myself

Burn down the disco
Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music that they constantly play
It says nothing to me about my life
Hang the blessed DJ
Because the music they constantly play

On the Leeds side-streets that you slip down
Or provincial towns you jog ’round
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ
Hang the DJ, hang the DJ

10. great choice! and actually it is about radio
A particualr DJ in fact, Steve Wright then of BBC Radio 1. He oh-so-tastefully chose to play a Wham song after announcing news of the chernobyl disaster, I believe.
