Rove is in charge of American Idol?
Error Leads to 'American Idol' Revote

"LOS ANGELES - The 11 contestants left on Fox's reality hit "American Idol" are getting another shot at stardom.

Phone numbers that allowed viewers to pick their favorite contestant were incorrectly displayed during Tuesday's show, prompting a re-vote during the show scheduled to air Wednesday, the network said in a statement. "

I bet millions of people are pissed and feel like this contest is rigged. They will probably protest, march and scream for "justice in the voting process". After all... this IS American Idol, it's not like it is a presidential election or anything.

It is that "stop and stare at the car-crash" side of human nature that seems to propel one's interest with shows such as American Idol. It is pathetic to watch that arrogant Simon. He makes condescending remarks to kids, who sometimes appear cognitively impaired, emotionally challenged, and/or from other disadvantaged circumstances.

To make it worse, American Idol highlights America's preference for half-ass musical talent. Like many of the performers on the radio, the final American Idol contestants are marketable in some way, but lack knowledge and experience playing instruments, writing music--the things that coincide with truly talented musical performers.

So you are right. (And I'm not talking here about someone who watches this show with a passing interest.) The AVERAGE avid American Idol fan probably does not have an interest in presidential elections, public policy, etc. Their brains are being filled with low-talent musical performers, excitement from watching human exploitation, and probably--given the personality--a bit of Fox News/The O'Reilly Factor/That Kind Of Crap.
