Update on the Foster Greyhound
Last night we shed a few tears and said good-bye to our foster greyhound as he went to his new home - Boo-boo

It was even more touching when we learned that the couple adopting Boo-boo had lost an elderly greyhound a couple of months ago and the remaining greyhound (Bethy) was quite upset

Bethy still wandered the house looking for her friend and companion, off her "feed" and lots of crying. The couple "borrowed" a relative's dog for few days to keep Bethy company.

They brought Bethy along last night to meet Boo-boo. When Bethy came into the house she was shaking, tail tucked -- but inside of an hour she was "glued" to Boo-boo, wouldn't leave his side and even stood in front of him to "protect" him from another greyhound that was there. She even stopped shaking.

At one point Bethy had to go "do her business" -- Boo-boo whined until she returned.

As the particulars of the adoption were being taken care of -- Bethy laid down next to Boo-boo and took a nap -- a sign her "parents" say that she is comfortable with Boo-boo.

We wish them all a long and happy life together.

P.S. The couple are even considering adopting a THIRD greyhound in a couple of weeks once Boo-boo settles into their home.

1. That's a very touching story
When we grieve for our pets we often forget the other pets in our house and how they grieve also. I'm very happy for the family. You done good!

2. Wow! Sounds like Bethy and Boo-Boo will be happy together!
That's just AMAZING that they hit it off so well!

Surely you are sad that Boo-Boo is leaving, but you are SOOO lucky that he has found such a welcoming home!

Your loss is small compared to Bethy's...and her acceptance of Boo-Boo is an amazing occurrence!

Animals are as picky as people, if not more so. If Bethy likes Boo-Boo, then you have done your job as foster parents, and done it well!

6. we only had him for about 5 weeks
but it seemed odd this morning to be feeding only 2 dogs...

tonight - we clean and pack up the extra food bowls etc., tuck them away until the next foster greyhound arrives...

The woman that runs the rescue is waiting for a call from her contacts about bringing in a few more dogs -- might not be that long before we're feeding 3 dogs again

3. forgot to mention
of the nine greyhounds that originally came with Boo-boo -- 7 of them have found homes

they are still looking for home for Lulu and Janis, and also one other that has been searching for a home for a long time - C'mon

5. I wish I had a place...
Where I could have a dog, and I wish I could afford a dog. I would adopt a greyhound in a second. Wonderful, soft, loving creatures.

9. I would take Lulu in a heartbeat, but Jessie is frightened of other
dogs. Good luck!!! They are such beautiful creatures.

8. Very nice! Thanks for sharing.
One of our rescues has a visit with his potential Forever home, and I'm hoping it goes just as well.

Thanks again for fostering. It means the world.
