a lot of people forget that Lincoln pissed off RWers far more than Dean. He was a real rabble rouser
Hell--11 states seceded because they were so afraid of his progressivism

Lincoln suspend the writ of Habeus Corpus in Maryland, and held innocent people in jail for many days. He also sent the army into Baltimore to keep them from holding a refferendum on Neutrality. He's a good guy, but he did suspend the rights of Americans in his day.

But I would take FDR, Truman, LBJ (minus Vietnam) or Carter over any 20th Century Republican.

Abe Lincoln remains my all time favorite President---because he was a real leader, and a progressive genius in his day.
