That Cubs fan might ruin it all for them
Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 10:10 PM by Resistance
If the Cubs blow it tonight - due to that IDIOT fan trying to catch the ball. And if, they end up blowing the whole series to the Marlins, because of that IDIOT fan ...

That guy is an IDIOT IDIOT IDIOT

It's 4 to 3 now, with 2 outs, and SHOULD BE THREE OUTS with a TIED score, if it weren't for that IDIOT FAN.

(on edit, the inning ended 8 to 3!!!!!!)

on another edit, the Cubs lost.

And here's a picture of THE IDIOT

If that out had counted, no one would have scored on IRod's hit. At BEST, it would be tied 3-3, inning over.

....has any effort been made to remove the goat curse by extreme measures like exorcism or finding a suitable replacement and bringing it into Wrigley thereby ending the curse? I mean at this point I am willing to try anything, even buying a goat, and a ticket for it if need be. Anything to end this jinx.

81. It was catchable
It looked like it was no more than 6 inches above Alou's glove. He jumped high enough. Someone's hand deflected the ball. Alou closed his glove but there was nothing but air in his glove. It was catchable. Just look at Alou's reaction afterward.

If it is caught then there are 2 outs. Assuming that a few more hits are given up it is 2-3 or 3-3 worst case scenario.

It is all up to Wood tomorrow. He pitched game 5 against Atlanta so I believe the Cubs can win tomorrow. Although this game must really hurt the Cubs emotionally.

65. The runs wouldn't have been scored is the point
The third out would have come with at worst a tied 3 to 3 score (on the flyball), and that is accounting for the Gonzalez error.

71. easy to say...
your team won a world series than sold off all the players...only to come back again a few years later....

As a Phillies fan I have enjoyed the pain of Cubs fans for many years...but damn, enough's enough....I was really pulling for them and the Sox....

vouch for the guy's safety....

WHAT AN IDIOT!!!

The CUBS have not been in a world series since the end of WORLD WAR II...listen TRUMAN was president the last time the CUBS went to the World Series....

I go to bed much more depressed and less hopeful than I began this day....

I know it's "only a game" but to us Cubs fans it's not often we can REALLY dream of a world series...and it was so close tonight....

91. What's his name? Where does he live?
Will he have a job tomorrow?

He better go out of town and change his name!

That was fan interference. Bad call by umpires!

Lucky for this fan that this happened in Chicago. Had this happened in New York to a New York team, he would be on his way to the emergency room!

92. I think the ump was right
The ball wasn't inside the wall - it was either over it, or from my view, seemed to be just outside and into fan territory, where the rule is that anything goes.

98. I've been in a bad mood since the Red Sox lost this afternoon,
And then I end my "Summer of Denial" by forcing myself to accept my Karl Malone in Laker Gold. Ick.

Then I read this thread, and my heart goes out to all y'all Cubs fans.

Heartbreak sucks, I've got to see my moment of heartbreak on Gatorade commercials many times for years. Thank you NBA refs and Michael Jordan, He Who Went 6-0 in Finals Appearances. Couldn't share just one ring could you?

I am sorry for all Cubs fans everywhere past and present. This qualifies as an Epic Moment of Pain, one for the ages. And it shouldn't ever have happened.

102. According to AP, the fan was 26 years old
We will soon know his real name, and I expect him to be on TV apologizing to the Cubs and to all the fans.

To add to the hurt, that fan who kept Alou from catching the ball hit by Luis Castillo and kept the rally going was wearing a Cubs hat. Once the Marlins broke loose, people around the 26-year-old fan starting hurling beers in his direction and he was escorted out by security with a jacket over his face.

103. Get a grip.... It seemed like fate but...
If Gonzales fields the damn ball it's a double play. End of Inning. 3-1. He wasn't the only fan trying, and probably was caught in the moment. Haven't any of you ever wanted to catch a foulball? I doubt he even _saw_ the fielder.

Blaming this guy if the cubs go down, though it seems symbolic, is a sign of low class and a LOSER mentality.

106. You don't know anything about being a Cub fan. Cub fans are the best fans
in the game.

And this IDIOT committed a CARDINAL sin. Interfering with the home fielder is the WORST sin a fan can commit in baseball. Cub fans traditionally pretend that opposing home runs are just doubles that hit the basket by extending their hands and pushing them back onto the field! Cub fans throw back opposing home runs even if they get hit out of the park!

And this guy gets in the way with 5 outs to go to get to the World Series?
